Granite is categorized in Groups. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 with (5) five being the most expensive of the material groups. The Quality and durability are mostly equal in all groups, However, a few of the upper-grade pricier stones can be a little fragile.
Basically, what makes a group 5 more expensive then a group 1 is the rarity of the color. It is simply supply and demand and rarity of color. More attractive stones are in higher demand and if they come from a distant land in small quantities the price will be higher. Some of the toughest stones are also quite inexpensive and some of the most expensive can be very fragile. Natural stones contain small "pits" which are simply small voids between grain boundaries and some of the more expensive stones can be full of them.
There is a wide selection, and we have in our showroom the most widely used popular granite slabs. They represent colors from all groups, and there are many more colors that are available to us.
